This time we are going to Georgia, to the Samtskhe-Javakheti region. The Javakhk plateau is rich in large and small lakes. During the tour, we will see the freshwater Saghamo and Paravani lakes attracting tourists at any season of the year. Lake Saghamo (in translation meaning «Evening») is located in the eastern part of the Javakheti volcanic highlands at an altitude of 1996 m above sea level. The area of the lake is 4.8 km², the average depth is 1.6 m, the maximum depth is 2.3 m. In winter Saghamo freezes for 4-5 months.
Paravani is the largest lake in Georgia, the altitude of the lake above sea level exceeds 2 thousand meters. The area reaches 38 km². At the same time, the maximum depth of the lake is small - 3.3 meters. The quantity of water in the lake is 91 million m³. The climate in this part is severe. Frosts are on the lake from mid-autumn to mid-spring, and it is covered with ice, the thickness of which, as a rule, reaches 60-70 cm.
The next stop is Gandza (ni) village, where the house-museum of the Armenian poet V. Teryan is located. Here we will also see a church dated back to the middle of the 19th century built by V. Teryan's grandfather Grigor and father Sukias like the main Cathedral of Holy Etchmiadzin. The church consecrated by the name of Surb Karapet still stands unharmed and is rightfully considered as the architectural gem of the village.
During the tour we will also visit three Greek churches in Tsalka.
The last stop of the tour is the newly built 240-meter glass bridge in the Dashbashi canyon with its wondrous scenery and cascading waterfall. In the middle of the bridge there is a diamond-shaped bar-restaurant with a wonderful view to the canyon. A 1.5-km trail descends from here, leading to a canyon and a picturesque cascading waterfall. After walking along the glass bridge, lovers of tracking may go down to the waterfall to admire the beauty of the gorge and relax. On the territory there is also cliff swing over the gorge and bicycle zipline, so the amateurs of adventures can enjoy them.
