The state of Qatar is located on the same name peninsula, which is a part of the Arabian Peninsula. In the south, Qatar borders with the Saudi Arabia, in the northwest it has a maritime border with Bahrain islands, in the southeast it has a maritime border with the UAE. It is washed by the waters of the Persian Gulf.
Qatar is a small state. The capital of Qatar is Doha, which is located right on the coast and is the center of the resort area. The population of Doha is 950 thousand people. There are several other cities in Qatar, but they are of little interest to tourists. There are Bedouin settlements here as well.
The official language is Arabic. The form of government is an absolute monarchy. The head of state is the Emir, whose power is limited only by the framework of Sharia. The official religion is Islam. Time zone is UTC+3. The national currency is the Qatari riyal, which consists of 100 dirhams.
The main landscape of Qatar is a desert with moving dunes. In the center of the peninsula, the desert is rocky, with salt marshes. There is little water here, the oases are small.
The climate on the coast of Qatar is hot, tropical. In summer, the temperature is from +40 to +46 °C, and sometimes even +50 °C. Humidity is high - up to 90% in the coastal zone. In the desert, the climate is tropical continental (it is hot during the day, and it is cold at night), very dry. The best time to visit Qatar is from December to March, when the average air temperature is around +25 °C, and the sea is warm.
The attitude towards tourists in Qatar is friendly. Islamic traditions are respected here, but they do not go to extremes. You can swim in open swimsuits only on hotel beaches; open swimsuits are prohibited on public city beaches.
