Shaqi Waterfall is considered as one of the most picturesque waterfalls in Armenia. The waterfall is located in the Syunik region of the Republic of Armenia, 3 km northwest of Sisian city, near Shaqi village. The waterfall is formed on the Shaqi River flowing into the Vorotan River. Despite its small height (18 m), the loud noise of the waterfall can be heard from afar. There are different legends about Shaqi Waterfall. According to one of them, foreign invaders send captive girls to their leader, who was stationed with his army in Mughan.

When the caravan of captive girls arrives in Mughan, the latter ask the kidnappers to let them bathe in the river before appearing before their leader. The kidnappers agree. The girls throw themselves into the Vorotan River and disappear into the water's depths. Only a blue-eyed girl named Shaqi tries to escape across the river flowing into the Vorotan river. The kidnappers catch up with her, but suddenly a rock miraculously appears in the river, and the water, falling from the rock, hides Shaqi from her pursuers. After this, the waterfall and the village located next to it began to be called Shaqi.

The place, where the waterfall is located, is a deep gorge with rocks and caves. Traces of ancient human activities have been found in them, as well as ash, which is attributed to the Paleolithic period.

You can get to the Shaki waterfall by any car.
