The first point of the tour is the Gndevank Monastery. It is located on the left bank of the Arpa River, on a hill, about 1 km west of Gndevaz village. According to historian Stepanos Orbelyan (XIII-XIV centuries), Gndevank was founded by Princess Sopi of Syunik in the X century. as a monastery of hermits. It was named Gndevank in honor of hermit Supan Gnduni. A group of monuments of the monastery dated back the 10th-17th centuries includes the Church of Surb Stepanos, a gavit, a refectory, a cemetery, residential and farm buildings, a canal. The monastery is surrounded by a wall. The monastery and the village were destroyed by Persian Shah Abbas in 1604.
The next stop of the tour is resort city Jermuk, where we will see a picturesque waterfall, taste mineral water of different temperatures, walk through the park of the city. Jermuk mineral water has healing properties and by its hydrotherapeutic characteristics it is similar to the mineral waters of Zheleznovodsk (Russia) and Karlovy Vary (the Czech Republic). The healing properties of the Jermuk waters, which have been known since the Middle Ages, are evidenced by the preserved fragments of stone pools in the territory of the city. Jermuk mineral water is intended not only for drinking, but it is also used for taking therapeutic baths, as well as for the treatment of gastrointestinal diseases, diseases of the liver, biliary tract, diabetes, etc.
The Jermuk waterfall falls from a height of 72 meters and resembles long girl's hair, in connection with which it was called "Jraharsi Varser", which in translation from Armenian means "mermaid hair".
An off-road excursion to the Jermuk geyser, cave and deer statue will be organized for those who wish. During 2-hour trip the participants will be able to swim in a geyser hidden high in the mountains, then drive to the statue of a deer, which is a symbol of Jermuk city, from where a picturesque view to the city opens, and also go the cave-chapel.
