Lake Mirror (Lake Qartez/ Lake Map in Artavan) is located in the Vayots Dzor region of Armenia, 2 km east of Artavan village, at an altitude of 2100 m above sea level. The area of ​​the lake makes 6 hectares. Since 2008, the lake has been included in the list of state natural monuments of the Ministry of Nature Protection of the Republic of Armenia. The lake has a bizarre appearance: from above it resembles a map of the planet, that is why it became popular as Lake Map.

Artavan village is located at the source of the Artavan River, which is the left tributary of the Arpa River. The village was previously called Agkhach and was part of the Sharur-Daralagez district of the Erivan province. According to Ghevond Alishan, it was previously Aghberakhach village of the Chakhchuk district of the Syunik region of Great Armenia.
