Rhodes is a popular resort and one of the largest Greek islands. Its shores are washed by the Aegean and Mediterranean Seas. The airport is located in the north of the island, 16 km from the city of Rhodes. Rhodes is divided into several resorts: Faliraki, Ialyssos, Ixia and Kallithea.

Rhodes, like almost all of Greece, has a Mediterranean climate. Summer months are hot and winter months are mild. The heat is easily tolerated thanks to a fresh breeze. The swimming season begins in May and lasts until the end of October.

Rhodes is washed by the Aegean and Mediterranean seas. Excursions called "Kiss of Two Seas" are organized to the place of Prasonisi, where the sea waters merge. The Mediterranean sea is calmer than the Aegean. On the Mediterranean coast (west of the island) there are sandy beaches, on the Aegean coast (east) there are mostly pebbly beaches.

Faliraki is the most active place on the whole island. It is often chosen by families with children as there is a smooth entry into the water and no strong waves here. There are many shops and restaurants here. In the evening the central streets are bustling with nightlife full of bars, discos and night clubs. Most hotels are located at a remote distance, so the sounds of night music do not disturb anyone. From Faliraki you can get to Lindos and Rhodes by bus.

Ixia is a quiet and peaceful place to relax. There are many high-class comfortable hotels, bars, restaurants, shops here. Parasailing and windsurfing lovers usually visit here.

Those who love riding the waves visit Ialyssos. Here there are excellent conditions for kitesurfing and windsurfing. The beaches in Ialyssos are pebbly.

Kallithea is a cozy place almost nearby the capital of the island, the city of Rhodes. There is no fuss and  noise here, only quiet beaches and cozy restaurants.

Sightseeing of Rhodes

According to a legend, the giant statue of Zeus, the Colossus of Rhodes, recognized as one of the seven wonders of the world, was located in Rhodes. The Colossus was destroyed by an earthquake, but many ancient architectural monuments have survived up to this day. For example, the acropolis in Lindos, ancient churches and chapels, the medieval fortress in Rhodes.

Lindos has a magnificent acropolis, from the observation deck of which there is a wonderful view of the St. Peter bay. The acropolis is located on a hill, the top of which can be reached by donkey. Lindos town consists of snow-white buildings, its streets are paved with pebbles and decorated with fountains.

In ancient Rhodes, which is also called the "city of knights", you must definitely see the beautiful Rhodes Fortress.

Greece is an Orthodox country, so there are many churches and chapels here. On Rhodes, there is the St. Panteleimon Monastery, where a part of the healer's relics is kept. The second place, where pilgrims go, is the Seven Springs near Kolymbia. Seven icy springs beat among emerald greenery and coolness. It is believed that You can receive forgiveness of all the sins if You walk through a dark tunnel, where all seven springs merge into one stream. The stream flows into a small lake, along the banks of which peacocks walk.

Another magical place in Rhodes is the Butterflies Valley, Petaloudes, near Theologos village. In summer thousands of butterflies gather in the shade of the trees, so the trunks and bushes are covered with them like a carpet.
