Zanzibar is an archipelago in the Indian Ocean, being part of Tanzania. The exact number of islands in the archipelago is unknown, as many of them are so small that they are completely submerged during high tide and only emerge on the surface a few hours after high tide.

The name of the state of Tanzania owes to Zanzibar: the state of Tanzania has been called this way since 1964, when the Zanzibar archipelago united with the state of Tanganyika located in the mainland. So, the name Tanzania was received as a result of the combination of the first three letters TAN and ZAN. Now Zanzibar is an autonomous part of Tanzania. Moreover, the autonomy of the archipelago is very broad. Zanzibar, for example, has its own president, its own parliament and even its own flag.

The main advantages of this resort are man-made and natural attractions: a rich and diverse cultural heritage, carefully preserved coastline, crystal clear coastal waters and many species of marine animals.

The island's capital, Stone Town, is famous for its ancient fort, its own amphitheater, several mosques, Slave Trade Square and the house, where legendary Freddie Mercury was born and educated. Zanzibar also amazes with the richness of its natural world: dolphins swim to its fabulous beaches, and the curious tourists  are welcome to visit the Monkey Park and the Island of Giant Turtles.

Today Zanzibar is a civilized and peaceful place. Modern hotels, cafes and restaurants, a wide range of entertainment combined with amazing nature, warm ocean and friendly local people make the island a safe place for a vacation.
