Mtirala National Park (area is 15.8 thousand hectares) is located in Adjara (Georgia), 30 km from Batumi, 15 km from Chakvi village and 30 km from Kobuleti. The national park was named in honor of Mount Mtirala, located on its territory. This is the highest mountain in the vicinity of Batumi, its height is 1335 meters. "Mtirala" in translation from Georgian means "crying". This is explained by the fact that the territory of the current national park is considered as the wettest place not only in Georgia, but also in Europe: precipitation is twice much more here than in nearby Batumi. Large quantity of precipitation and constant humidity served as the basis for the creation of a unique microclimate in the territory of the Mtirala National Park.
Humid climate and the presence of many reservoirs and rivers in the park create favorable conditions for the formation of a variety of flora and fauna. In the Mtirala Reserve, you can find many rare species of animals, such as leopard, gurion, Caucasian jerboa, capricorn, etc. The park is a home to many species of trees and shrubs, including Georgian oak, beech, walnut, as well as plants such as wild garlic and saffron.
Mtirala offers numerous tourist routes, including tours to the waterfall, to the lake, to the top of the mountain.
There is a rope park in the territory of the National Park, which offers many different routes for lovers of active recreation and extreme sports.
