Arch of Charents. The place of the arch was not chosen by chance. From here you can see the wonderful view of biblical Mount Ararat. The words engraved on the arch belong to Yeghishe Charents, one of the most popular Armenian poets, who here wrote about legendary mountain, and that is why the people called this area “The Arch of Charents”.
Khosrov Reserve. In the territory of the reserve, a 6-km hiking awaits us to the mysterious Vahagn waterfall hidden in the rocks and fabulous Astghik waterfall (with a bath!). In the ancient Armenian mythology, the Goddess of beauty and fertility Astghik was the wife of the God of fire and war Vahagn. It is desirable that your shoes should be non-slip (!) and sportswear, clothing should be comfortable. It is better to have a hat and sunglasses with you.
After visiting the waterfalls, UAZ will take us along dizzying mountain paths to the Aghjots monastery complex (the 13th century). From here you will have a picturesque view to the mountains.
On the way back, we will stop at the tumble-down church of Bayburd or Geghmahovit (the 5th century). According to the inscription preserved in the church, Bayburd village existed until the 17th century. The Armenians were evicted from here in 1604 by the Persian Shah Abbas I.
Then we will visit the natural monument “Symphony of Stones”, which presents a gorge with rocks consisting of huge basalt pillars hanging above the ground at a height of about 50 meters. Their special shape in the form of hexagons and vertical arrangement resemble organ pipes, in connection with which the monument got the names "Stone Organ", "Basalt Organ" and "Symphony of Stones".
